Asphalt Paving & Repairs

BorderLines offers multiple options for repairing asphalt. No matter what your budget is or degree of damage, we have a solution for you.

Asphalt Paving & Repair

BorderLines can repair your asphalt for a level, uniform and structurally-sound driveway. We often repair potholes, low spots, large fractured areas, and birdbaths – an area on your driveway where water collects and sits. Whatever the issue, BorderLines can repair it.

Temporary Overlay

This is a common and cost-effective repair ideal for driveway’s with a low spot, small amount of cracking, or minor deterioration, and will last anywhere from 1-3 years. Our technicians will level off the surface, thoroughly clean the affected area, and apply a special primer known as asphalt tack coat. The primer acts as a glue that secures the new layer of asphalt to the existing layer. We then pour hot-mix asphalt, feather it into the voids, and tamp the new asphalt to effectively compact the material.

Premium Repairs

Also referred to as a cutout, our premium repair service addresses the structural issue at the foundation and is guaranteed to last longer than your actual driveway. Our technicians will cut out the affected area and depending on the underlying structure, will either re-compact existing foundation or add new base material; insufficient base material is the primary cause of pavement failure. The material is tamped with a plate compactor to ensure the foundation is structurally sound, tack coat adhesive is applied along the edges of the asphalt, and hot-mix asphalt is poured into the voids. The new asphalt is raked and tamped to finalize the repair.

Infrared Repair

Infrared repair is a technology that uses heat to soften the existing asphalt and then blends new hot-mix asphalt in with the original asphalt to create a seamless repair.

This method of repair uses radiated heat, much like a toaster, to bring the asphalt up to a working temperature of about 350 degrees. Once the repair area has been heated, it is raked to remove the failed asphalt and a rejuvenator is applied to replenish lost oils. Additional material is applied to the area as needed, then tamped to finalize the repair. This type of repair is not ideal for areas that require foundational repairs.

In most cases, the new asphalt repair does not match the aged color of the driveway. For this reason, we recommend sealcoating the driveway following your asphalt repairs.

Paving

BorderLines Pavement Maintenance provides residential asphalt paving services which include removal and replacement of existing driveways and new construction driveway paving.

Ensuring a solid foundation is critical to constructing a long-lasting driveway. Before paving, we verify the solidity of the driveway’s base and substrate, adding Class 5 rock if necessary. If a re-base is performed, the new structure will need to set for 5-7 days to allow sufficient compaction before the area is paved. We then lay premium grade hot-mix asphalt with a thickness of 2½ inches, which is 25% thicker than most asphalt paving companies provide.

If your asphalt driveway is in need of repair or complete replacement, we’re happy to provide a free assessment of the property to develop a plan that is right for you, along with a recommended maintenance schedule to prolong the life of your driveway. Maintenance Tips

Our services temporarily gets rid of the grass and weeds growing up through the driveway cracks. To permanently remove vegetation you will want to use a product that will kill the roots that are under the pavement. Your local nursery or hardware store can make suggestions on what product to use.
